USF seniors present art work

Senior art students will display their best and most interesting works in the Thesis Exhibition at the University of St. Francis in Joliet. The show runs April 30 through May 22 in the university’s Moser Performing Arts Center gallery.

The opening reception for the artists is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 29. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays. For weekend hours or other information, call (815) 740-3404.

The Thesis Exhibition is the capstone experience for Visual Arts majors at USF. Student artists and designers present a body of work produced over an extended period of time.

"This year’s exhibition holds a plethora of resolved ideas not seen at USF for more than 30 years, said Michael Costello, assistant professor of Visual Arts. "I am impressed with the quality of work that these students have created. Many of our students are extending their studies through graduate work and entry level design positions."

This year’s exhibit will be heavy in photography and new media. Due to the recent implementation of new digital printing facilities, many students are now capable of printing larger-than-life photographs. Monique Inglot of Elk Grove Village, Matt Egiziio of Joliet, Joel Voss of Lemont, Amber Mustoe of Plainfield and Ben Kilgore of Sheridan, Ill. will each present prints up to 40 by 60 inches.

Video works will be presented by Richard Mutz of Crest Hill. Also, Kilgore, Lauren Pellillo of Orland Park, Keri Harvey of East Dundee and Nick Pucel of Shorewood will present commercial packaging design.

Additional student artists include: Mike Cappelletti of Justice, Ill.; Amber Castranier of Morris; Susan Cataldo of Elwood; Holly Fisher of Litchfield, Ill.; Kim Jedlo of Mokena; Sharon Murray of Orland Hills; and Allison Wood of Tinley Park.
