CEA Activities


ANNUAL REPORT- 1997

1. Freshman picnic.

2. For the block party, we had a bozo bucket booth with candy prizes.

3. Dr. Diab performed a chemistry demo that we were able to sponsor.

4. Split the pot raffle.

5. Supplied judges to numerous science fairs for schools in the Joliet area.

6. We sent a representative to a recycling open house.

7. Sent Tj Gill and Jennifer Weslowski to a grant conference to get federal and state money for recycling. It turned out that the money was not to be distributed to colleges.

8. We collected paper throughout the entire school to be recycled and asked to have Banner pick up paper once a week instead of bi-weekly.

9. To finish off the semester, S-club funded a pizza party at Aurelios to thank all the members for their hard work and dedication.


  ANNUAL REPORT- 1998

1. Sponsered an American Chemical Society (ACS) lecture on human cloning.

2. Some members went to the Mazon Creek fossil dig.

3. Sold Easter lilies from Kennicot Brothers greenhouse in Aurora.

4. Sponsored a Chemical Magic Showpresentation by Dr. Diab.

5. On Earth Day, we held a raffle, showed environmental movies, and had various displays set up in the hallway by the lunchroom.

6. Recycled paper throughout the school.

7. Changed name from Science Club to Council for Environmental Awareness (CEA).

8. Wrote by-laws for CEA.

9. Voted on next years officers.

10. Helped fund a trip to Great America for CEA members ( Its Party Time!).


ANNUAL REPORT- 1999

1. Sponsored an American Chemical Society (ACS) lecture on human cloning
2. The CEA held a split the pot raffle in the fall.  The money raised was enough to provide each faculty and administrative office with a paper-recycling bin.

3. The Council continued to sponsor the removal of waste paper throughout the school.
4. For our second fun raiser, we sold flowers for Christmas.
5. We help a Christmas/end-of-the-semester dinner at Aurelios.
6. The Council co-sponsored a chemical magic show presentation by Dr. Diab.

7. The week prior to Earth Day, the CEA had a table set up with environmental information and posters, we help a split-the-pot raffle, and sold Earth Day 2000 t-shirts (which we provided free to our members).

8. The Council continued talks with representatives from Will County to provide the
school with a grant in order to establish a comprehensive recycling program.


ANNUAL REPORT- 2000

1.  Sponsered numerous American Chemical Society (ACS) lectures
2.  Members helped participate in decoration of Rec Center for
Homecoming Dance
3.  Members went to Fermi Laboratory for re-seeding project
4.  Fall term split-the-pot raffle
5.  Members judged various science fair projects in Joliet area
6.  Christmas dinner for members at La Mex restaurant
7.  Spring split-the-pot raffle, donating our earnings to a local
charity (Groundwork) in honor of Easter season
8.  Voted on next years officers
9.  Recycled paper throughout USF
10. Attended Student Activities Board (SAB) meetings once a month
11. End of the year party at for CEA members
12. Sponsored recycling campaign contest between Marian and Tower
Residence Halls


ANNUAL REPORT - 2001

1. Sponsored American Chemical Society (ACS) lectures
2. Recycled paper around the school
3. Student activity boards meetings were attended once a month members of CEA
4. Fall term split-the pot raffle with proceeds going to Ground work of Joliet
5. Gift certificate given for a turkey in the fall term
6. During sibling weekend, members participated by assisting children in crafts
7. Help decorate for homecoming
8. We held end-of-the semester dinner at Bachi's.
9. Spring split-the-pot raffle, donating earning to Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie
10. Sold T-shirts and donated earning to Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie
11. Purchased CEA t-shirts for members and future 50/50 raffles
12. For Earth Week, members decorated display window, set up table with information video and pamphlets; also conducted a 50/50 raffle donating earnings to Pilcher Park
13. Members helped judge local science fairs
14. End of the semester party for members
15. Voted on next years officers


ANNUAL REPORT - 2002

1. Sponsored American Chemical Society (ASC) lectures
2.  Recycled paper throughout USF
3. Participated in the Club Fair to recruit new members and gave away candy bars
4. Sold popcorn at the Quad Stock fair and donated a percentage of the profit to United Way charities
5. A few members helped to greet guests who attended the Recycled Percussion: Artist Lecture Series
6. A couple members represented the club at the Inauguration of the Eighth USF President
7. Sold Community Day Event savings coupons from Carson Pirie Scott
8. Held a 50/50 raffle in addition to raffling away a free thanksgiving turkey ($20 gift certificate to Dominicks)
9. Voted on a new logo to represent the CEA
10. Changed By-Laws by replacing the President with the Chair and the Vice-President with the Chair-Elect.  The Chair-Elect will now replace the Chair the following year
11. End of the semester dinner was held at Mongolian Barbeque Buffet
12. Purchased a banner with the new CEA logo
13. Sold Community Day Event savings coupons from Carson Pirie Scott again
14. Decorated show case in Uno Lounge for Earth Day
15. Held a 50/50 raffle in addition to raffling away a free Earth Day t-shirt
16. One of the activity coordinators organized a lecture with a speaker from the Will County Land Use Department to discuss recycling for the Earth Week celebration
17. Provided pizza and soda after the lecture
18. Elected the new Chair-Elect, Treasurer, and Activity Coordinators
19. End of the semester dinner was held at Dr. Diab's house for a picnic
