RE: Budget Request for 2000-01 School Year

The Council for Environmental Awareness (CEA) is dedicated to making the University of St. Francis an environmentally friendly campus.  This past year, the CEA, through the help of fund-raising and money budgeted from the SGA, was able to provide all faculty and administrative offices with paper recycling bins.  The CEA, in alliance with the American Chemical Society (ACS), has sponsored guest lecturers on and off campus.  The Council also has plans for an educational booth to be set up during the Earth Day week.  The club will also be running a neighborhood clean-up day in which students will be encouraged to help clean up the area surrounding the campus.

The CEA is looking forward to expanding the school's recycling program to include aluminum and plastic.  The council has plans to place 16 cans around the campus for the sole purpose of recycling aluminum cans.  These cans cost approximately $50 a piece for a total of $800.00.  the council is requesting this money from the SGA.  The CEA plans to use fund-raising to support and promote any other activities for next year.  The Council feels that USF is lagging behind other universities when it comes to recycling and the CEA is committed to bringing the University of St. Francis up to par.

Thank you for your support.

RE: Budget Request for 2001-02 School Year

The Council for Environmental Awareness (CEA) is dedicated to making the University of St. Francis an environmentally friendly campus.  This past year, the CEA, through the help of fund-raising and money budgeted from SGA, was able to provide all faculty and administrative offices with paper recycling bins expending the program from last year.  The CEA, in alliance with the American Chemical Society (ACS), has sponsored guest lectures on and off campus.  The Council also has plans for activities during Earth Day week.  The club also sponsored a seed collecting day in the fall, which helps the natural prairie and forest preserves around Will County.

The CEA is looking forward to expending the school's recycling program to include aluminum and plastic.  As you well know through the school's newspaper, the Encounter, we had some run-ins with the business office about that program.  Hopefully, in the near future that will be worked out.  Currently, the cost of the paper-recycling program is heavily dependent on the chemistry department's budget to pay the people that collect the paper from the bins every Friday.  CEA would like to take on the responsibility and pay these students from their own budget.  With all this in mind CEA is requesting a total of $1,008.00 from SGA.  This money will go toward paying people to collect the paper every Friday.  Fond raising will go to expanding the recycling program to aluminum and plastic, bringing in speakers, and sponsoring trips.  With the money from SGA and fund raising, CEA hopes to reach all of its goals set before you.

Thank you for your support,
Jessica Czerwin (treasurer) and CEA

RE: Budget Request for 2002-03 School Year

The Council for Environmental Awareness (CEA) is dedicated to making the University of St. Francis an environmentally friendly campus.  This past year, the CEA, through the help of fund-raising and money budgeted from SGA, was able to provide all faculty and administrative offices with paper recycling bins expanding the program from last year.  The CEA, in alliance with the American Chemical Society (ACS), has sponsored guest lectures on and off campus.  The Council also has plans for activities during Earth Day week, Easter egg hunt, Christmas program, and others.

Currently, the cost of the paper-recycling program on campus is heavily dependent on the chemistry department's budget to pay the students that collect the paper every week.  CEA would like to take on the responsibility of paying for the cost of recycling.

Therefore, our budget request for next year is in the sum of $1308.00. This should allow us to accomplish many of our projected goals.

Here is a breakdown of our budget request:

 1. Recycling cost:

2 students for 36 weeks (school year) at $6 hr.
  36 x24 = $864 for the school year

1 student for 12 weeks (summer) at $6 hr.
  12 x 12 = $144 for the summer
subtotal       1,008.00

2. Earth Day Expenses         100.00

3. Easter Program Expenses:        100.00

4. Christmas Program Expenses       100.00

Total          $1308.00

We trust that you will evaluate our request carefully and approve it in full.

Thank you in advance;

Respectfully;

Matt Heinemeier, Treasurer (CEA)
