WebCT (Web Course tools) is the web-based course system that the University of St. Francis uses to deliver online courses to you.
When you first enter an online course you see the main course page with icons that link to the various course tools. Spend some time exploring. When you walk into a classroom for the first time, the instructor gives you some tools to guide you through the rest of the term. These may include a syllabus, reading list, description of assignments, grading or evaluation criteria, as well as others. In the online environment, these same tools are available. Visit each of the links off the main page of your course, and see what's there.
TIP: To maneuver through your course, do not use the Back button in your browser; instead, use the links located in the brown Navigation Menu on the left side of the screen or the Link History in the gold bar at the top of the screen. And, of course, there's an exception! If you've clicked on a link that takes you out of WebCT and on to the web, you'll either want to close the open window (NOT exit the program), or use the Back button in your browser to take you back to the WebCT window.
ANOTHER TIP: When you're finished working on your WebCT-based course, it's important that you EXIT the Web browser completely when you finish your work. This is especially true if you use a computer used by others, such as any computer in a college open lab or a general use computer in the library. If you don't exit, a person using that machine after you will have access to your course materials, could send e-mail in your name, and could view your confidential student course record.
