Theology and Philosophy
The philosophy minor program offers all students an opportunity to examine the fundamental questions of human existence. The courses are designed to help students understand the great philosophical thinkers and enable them to critically address important philosophical issues which affect their own lives. The program places special emphasis on a knowledge of the historical origins of the Western philosophical tradition and on the development of skills of philosophical analysis. Many of the course offerings in philosophy are designed to relate philosophical knowledge and skills to the area of the undergraduate major.
Students may select philosophy as a minor program. Indeed, the minor program in philosophy is especially suited to students who bring a considerable degree of intellectual initiative and independence to their work. Students will find that philosophy complements their major area of study and offers them skills, tools, and a larger context in which to view their lives as well as their future careers.
