Craig Schmidt, founder of Personal Improvement Institute (PII), was a public school teacher and administrator for thirty-two years. Additionally, he has dedicated more than fifteen years to studying the research on effective teaching. Craig believes that schools are (for the most part) only as good as the teachers in them. He has taught graduate courses in Arizona, Michigan, and Ohio. His focus is in the areas of educational leadership, human relations, and the essence of quality teaching.
All courses taught by Personal Improvement Institute focus on helping people improve in interpersonal areas of their lives. This, Craig found, is the most important ingredient in teacher and administrative effectiveness. Educators experiencing Craig’s courses are amazed at how much they acquire which can be applied in their classrooms the very next day. Additionally, hundreds of principals have taken these classes to develop a better understanding what they are looking for while evaluating teachers. Former students describe this instructor as practical, humorous and inspirational.
In Craig’s words, his work is “more of a passion than a profession.” Currently, these courses are site-based offerings in the state of Michigan and other instructors (5 PII instructors) now share his passion and quality instructional techniques.
