Residence Life Goals

The Residence Life office strives to fulfill its mission through the following goals:

  1. Encourage and challenge students towards responsible life choices and decision-making as they experience differing stages of independence.
  2. Generate a climate that provides opportunities for residents to develop a variety of healthy, fulfilling relationships through the promotion of shared experiences that happen through both small and large group opportunities.
  3. Establish ourselves as a campus resource pointing students towards available services and assistance.
  4. Generate awareness of living responsibly in community be emphasizing mutual respect and healthy interaction between community members.
  5. Actively seek new and creative ways to incorporate academic accountability and excellence in to the living environments.
  6. Teach residents to manage and handle conflict and disappointment in an appropriate and constructive manner.
  7. Promote the questioning and development of a personal worldview for each student as they discover their unique talents and giftedness.
  8. Create a safe environment where diversity is embraced, not simply tolerated, and residents are encouraged to gain an understanding of other cultures and perspectives.
  9. Incorporate the concepts of respect, service, integrity, and compassion into all facets of the Residence Life program.
  10. Provide satisfactory living environments and adequate care and maintenance of physical facilities which are conducive to proper sleep, study, and student interaction.
