  • 1980- Present University of Chicago-Staff Nurse Surgical ICU
    Responsibilities include care of the surgical patient, delegation of duties to support personnel and orientation/preceptorship of new nursing employees. Patient population includes transplant patients, trauma patients, neurosurgical patients and general surgery patients. Participated in the development of an educational booklet for the families' of ICU patients and development of a clinical path specific to the adult liver transplant patient
  • 1988-1989 RMS Healthproviders-Clinical Nurse Specialist
    Responsibilities included the evaluation of ventilator-dependent patients for weaning potential and consultation with multidisciplinary team to determine patient
    appropriateness for admission into specialized ventilator facility.
  • 1990-1993 Abbott Laboratories-Consultant
    Responsibilities included the coordination of home care needs both with the patient and the agency providing services for the patient.
  • 1993- Present University of St. Francis/College of Nursing-Assistant Professor
    Responsibilities include clinical and didactic instruction as well as evaluation of student progress in the critical care, perioperative, and medical-surgical setting. Academic advising and participation on committees also a part of workload.
