What is psychology?

Psychology is the scientific study of the mental processes and behavior of organisms (both human beings and non-human animals).

Why is psychology a science?

The scientific method (e.g., systematic observations, experimental manipulations and control, hypothesis testing, deductive and inductive reasoning, disconfirming or falsification, etc.) is used to inquire, discover, and understand the patterns and variations in the characteristics and behaviors of individuals.
