AMERICA, first people, new people, forgotten people
by Tom Jones, Scott Nava, and Tone Stockenstrom

February 18, 2003 - March 30, 2003

Tom Jones, Tone Stockenstrom, and Scott Nava utilize traditional and contemporary photo-documentary practices to address the lives of persons that inhabit the fringe of the American mainstream. In "First People, New People, Forgotten People", these three artists offer a powerful and intimate view of Native Americans from the Ho Chunk tribe, members of a Mexican American family, and persons living in one of Chicago's oldest SROs. Side by side the images and texts that will be part of this exhibition will offer the audience an opportunity to be face to face with people that are often overlooked.
