Adam Farcus & Kris Holmgren: COMPILATIONS
February 8, 2007 through March 31, 2007
Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m. to Noon.

The Moser Performing Arts Center Gallery at the University of St. Francis is proud to announce the opening of “COMPILATIONS”, featuring the work of two Bloomington-Normal, Illinois artists Adam Farcus and Kris Holmgren. Mr. Farcus, a recent B.F.A. graduate of Illinois State University, maintains a studio practice in Bloomington, while Mr. Holmgren, a native of Minnesota, currently teaches studio art at Illinois State University.

Visitors to the MPAC gallery will find two succinctly divergent visual explorations at work in the “COMPILATIONS” exhibit. Kris Holmgren elegant gouache paintings feature extracted sections of imagery from a variety of found photographic sources, such as landscapes, decorative patterns, and aerial views. Playing upon contrasts in perspective, scale, and detail, Holmgren’s pastel and tertiary networks offer pleasantly intangible glimpses of seemingly clandestine environments.

Adam Farcus’ contributuion to “COMPILATIONS” includes nearly four hundred 4” x 4” collages that represent a mere excerpt from his ongoing Journals project. Since August 31, 2004, Farcus has maintained a constant routine of creating one collage per day. Exhibited in chronological grid formation that measures, viewers may trace the bewildering, often humorous, literal and symbolic archive of Mr. Farcus’ daily life.

Please plan to attend a closing reception for “COMPILATIONS” at the MPAC Gallery on Friday, March 30th, from 6-8 PM. The exhibiting artists will be in attendance and refreshments will be served.
