Art House presents: Departure 2005. Installation, video, drawing, painting, and sculptural works created by USF and alumni. Works by Matt Egizio, Holly Fisher, Bianca McGraw, Joel Voss, and Allison Wood. Using new media and theory-based approaches, this year's students have altered the 608 Wilcox Art House in innovative, provocative, and unusual ways. In addition, next Friday evening, Rick Mutz has curated a series of performance art pieces to be presented from 7 to 9 p.m. The exhibition will run through May 20th.
For those unfamiliar with the Art House (located 2 houses down from parking lot B), this is an experimental project space offered by the university to advance studio art majors' efforts. Directed by Matt Wilson with the assistance of adjunct faculty, this opportunity has created a competitive environment for the Visual Arts at USF. For instance, one of last year's Departure 2005 participants, Yaniro Paramo, has recently been accepted into the prestigious MFA sculpture program at Cal Arts in Valencia, California using work created in this art-style incubator.
To attend a guided discusson of the project space, interested parties may contact Chester Costello at extension 3821 or in office N403.
