Moser Performing Arts Center Gallery
Gallery Mission
The Moser Performing Arts Center Gallery is the on-campus
exhibition space at the University of St. Francis. Its primary
purpose is to enrich the educational experience of the University's
student population by exposing them to current practices in the
visual arts, and to the best examples of art in their community.
This dual exposure will expand their understanding of what is
possible artistically, preparing them to engage with visual culture
on a national and international level as artists and art
appreciators, while reinforcing their sense of where they are from.
The gallery will also strive to be a creative resource to our
community (defined here as students, faculty, staff, alumni and
local area artists) through the quality and scope of its
programming.
To demonstrate contemporary art practices in our exhibition program, we will include emerging, mid-career, and nationally recognized artists that are producing cutting edge work. We will focus on work that formally and thematically engages and stimulates our students, and fosters dialogue within the educational process. This work should transcend any concerns of the art world, or comment upon it in ways that would interest our community.
To demonstrate the artistic practices of our community we will
select work of the highest artistic caliber that is relevant to the
thematic programming of a given academic year.
