SPRING LINEUP

Soldier Songs and Voices featuring Phoebe Hunt
Tuesday, April 16, 2024 – 7 p.m.
Sexton Auditorium (Moser Performing Arts Center)

USF welcomes a special night of songs written in a collaboration of professional musicians and U.S. military veterans. “Soldier Songs And Voices” will be presented by national touring musician/singer/fiddler Phoebe Hunt, who helps facilitate a long-standing songwriter retreat for veterans on a ranch in Texas, plus “Soldier Songs” chapters in various cities throughout the country. The program, which helps veterans heal from trauma by turning their experiences into song, has been featured in TED talks and in many media outlets across the country. The show will feature songs that have come out of the songwriter retreat, as well as sessions in other parts of the country. It is sure to be a moving, memorable night.

Saturday, April 20, 2024 – 7 p.m.
Sunday, April 21, 2024 – 4 p.m.

The JSO concludes its 2023-2024 Season with a musical celebration featuring the overture to Louis J. Herold’s pirate opera “Zampa” and Antonin Dvorak’s rapturous “Symphony No. 8 in G Major.” Dr. Gilmar Cavalcante, trumpet, will be the featured guest artist in Johann Nepomuk Hummel’s virtuosic “Trumpet Concerto in E-flat Major.” Help us celebrate a brilliant conclusion to our season by attending the concert and then joining us for a reception afterwards.

Note that reserved tickets not picked up 15 minutes before the start of the program may be released to walk-in guests. Live in Concert: Elise Leavy – Solo Album Release Tour
Tuesday, March 19, 2024 – 7 p.m.
Mark your calendars to see Lafayette, Louisiana singer/songwriter Elise Leavy, an award-winning singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Elise is touring this spring to support her brand new album, “A Little Longer,” and will feature songs from the album on both guitar and piano.

Joliet Symphony Orchestra—REMEMBER: A Celebration of American Composers
Saturday, February 24, 2024 – 7 p.m. and Sunday, February 25, 2024 – 4 p.m.
Join us as we celebrate American Music and Black Heritage Month with a concert set featuring the “Andante moderato” by Florence Beatrice Price, the first African-American female symphonic composer, as well as Aaron Copland’s “An Outdoor Overture”, selections from Leonard Bernstein’s “West Side Story”, and John Knowles Paine’s “Symphony No. 1.” In their own voice, each of these four composers each share their unique stories through their distinctive American sound.

The JSO presents its annual Family Concert & Instrument Petting Zoo. Join us for a captivating musical experience for the entire family! There will be opportunities to sit ‘in’ the orchestra, experience music from a fresh perspective, discuss what defines music and how it is created, and more! Come explore the orchestra and orchestral music with us. This is certain to be an unforgettable and exciting experience for all ages.

Joliet Symphony Orchestra: “Revitalize”
Saturday, December 9, 2023 – 7 p.m. and Sunday, December 10, 2023 – 4 p.m.
French horn soloist Emily Whittaker and the JSO explored music that revitalizes us in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s challenging “Concerto No. 3 in E-flat Major.” Also on the program was the stirring “Froissart Overture” by Sir Edward Elgar and Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 in F Major, opus 68 “Pastoral.” This program delighted and surprised as the JSO and audiences journeyed together through some familiar and unfamiliar musical landscapes

Claritas Chorale: Christmas at the Motherhouse

Claritas Chorale, USF’s community choir, celebrated one of our most sacred and cherished seasons: Christmas!

Illinois-Michigan Night: Crooked Tails and The Rebel Eves
Tuesday, November 28, 2023 – 7 p.m.
Talented trios Crooked Tails and The Rebel Eves , from the Land of Lincoln and the Great Lakes State respectively, magnified guests’ sense of the world with their soulful songs and beautiful harmonies.

Joliet Symphony Orchestra: “Renewal”
Saturday, October 7, 2023 – 7 p.m. and Sunday, October 8, 2023 – 4 p.m.
The JSO welcomed new artistic director and conductor, Sean Paul Mills, during this kick-off event, featuring Giuseppe Verdi’s “La Forza del Destino Overture,” Antonin Dvorak’s “American Suite,” Modest Mussorgsky’s “Night on Bald Mountain” and Felix Mendelssohn’s “Reformation Symphony.” Each composer tells a story about the human experience through their own, unique musical language. Guests experienced renewal through beautiful symphonic music! 

Aoife Scott and Andy Meaney
Tuesday, September 12, 2023 – 7 p.m.
USF was thrilled to welcome Aoife Scott and Andy Meaney, multiple award-winning musicians from Dublin, for the first Music at Moser show in the 2023-24 school year. Hailing from Dublin, Ireland, Aoife Scott brought soulful vocals and evocative storytelling to the University of St. Francis. Her music, exploring themes of love and resilience, has captured the hearts of audiences around the world, offering a unique blend of folk, traditional and contemporary styles. Scott’s recognitions include Celtic Female Vocalist of the Year and Female Vocal Album of the Year (2021) and Irish Folk Song of the Year (2017). Scott and Meaney were joined by local musicians who opened the show, then joined on stage for the encore.
