International Student Admission Requirements

Requirements for
Undergraduate/Bachelor’s Degree Students

Freshman Students
(A freshman student is a first-year student.)

  • International Application
  • 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) on high school transcripts.
    • An official transcript, course-by-course evaluation, and GPA need to be completed. We can take official evaluations from organization such as ECE, WES or Educational Perspectives.
    • It may be possible for some transcripts to have an evaluation. Please email International Admissions at intladmissions@stfrancis.edu with your documents and ask if your transcripts are able to be evaluated in-house.
  • SAT of 1030 or ACT of 20
    • To be eligible for academic scholarships, you must have an SAT or ACT. You are still eligible for admission if you do not have an SAT or ACT.
  • English Language Proficiency, only one (1) is required
    • 79 TOEFL, 6.0 IELTS, iTEP Academic Level 4, PTE-Academic 54, Cambridge 169-175, PTE General Level 3, ELS Level 12, TLC Level 9, or completion of USF’s ELAP program.***

Transfer Students
(A transfer student has previous college/university coursework.)

  • International Application
  • 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) from all current college/university coursework.
    • An official transcript, course-by-course evaluation, and GPA need to be completed. We can take official evaluations from organizations such as ECE, WES or Educational Perspectives.
    • It may be possible for some transcripts to have an evaluation. Please email International Admissions at intladmissions@stfrancis.edu with your documents and ask if your transcripts are able to be evaluated in-house.
  • English Language Proficiency, only one (1) is required
    • 79 TOEFL, 6.0 IELTS, iTEP Academic Level 4, PTE-Academic 54, Cambridge 169-175, PTE General Level 3, ELS Level 12, TLC Level 9, or completion of USF’s ELAP program***

Requirements for
Graduate/Master’s Degree Students

  • International Application
  • 2.75 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) from all current college/university coursework.
    • An official transcript, course-by-course evaluation, and GPA need to be completed. We can take official evaluations from organizations such as ECE, WES or Educational Perspectives.
    • It may be possible for some transcripts to have an evaluation. Please email International Admissions at intladmissions@stfrancis.edu with your documents and ask if your transcripts are able get be evaluated in-house.
  • Admission Essay
  • Letter of Recommendation (two (2) required for MSW)
  • Verification of Employment
  • English Language Proficiency, only one (1) is required
    • 79 TOEFL, 6.0 IELTS, iTEP Academic Level 4, PTE-Academic 54, Cambridge 169-175, PTE General Level 3, ELS Level 12, TLC Level 9, or completion of USF’s ELAP program***
  • Other possible requirements
    • Resume (MBA Only)
    • GMAT scores or two (2) years of management experience (MBA Only)
    • Two (2) years of health care experience or four (4) undergraduate foundation health care courses (Master’s in Health Administration Only)

***If you are an international student who does not meet the minimum English language requirements listed above, please consider our English language courses through our English Language for Academic Purposes (ELAP) program.

Next Steps: I-20

After we have received all of your required documents, our International Admissions office will review all documents for acceptance. If all requirements are met, USF will issue a Letter of Acceptance, and you can then prepare your documents to receive your I-20.
