Carlos Aquino, director of USF’s Counseling and Wellness Center, was named Site Supervisor of the Year at the Illinois Counseling Association conference in Springfield in late fall. Aquino was nominated by counselors-in-training, Alex Morgan and Kurtis Simonich.
There are more than 45 master’s counseling programs in Illinois working with community agencies to provide training for intern students, and of the hundreds of clinical sites that accept interns, Aquino was the only professional chosen for this honor.
Said his staff, “Carlos works tirelessly to assist counselors-in-training transition between student and professional. He provides education, supervision, consultation and support in a scaffolding manner throughout their developmental process.”
USF’s Counseling and Wellness Center has been enriched immensely under Aquino’s guidance and leadership.
