Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018 will be an exciting day for the University of St. Francis (USF) as the school will participate in #GivingTuesday for the first time in its history.
“#GivingTuesday is an opportunity for everyone connected with USF to make a donation to the university and, more importantly, make a difference for our students,” said Kelly Larson, USF director of annual giving. “We are excited to be part of this global effort to positively impact the lives of others.”
According to givingtuesday.org, “#GivingTuesday harnesses the potential of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in their communities; it provides a platform for them to encourage the donation of time, resources and talents to address local challenges. It also brings together the collective power of a unique blend of partners— nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses and corporations, as well as families and individuals—to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness.”
In the weeks leading up to the event, USF has planned a series of promotional videos featuring USF students who have benefitted from the financial support of others. Then from midnight to 11:59 p.m. on November 27, the university will run electronic and social media campaigns to encourage financial support of the event. Individuals who make donations on this day can also qualify for special university-themed giveaways.
The global fundraiser is entering its seventh year of operation.
