Joliet, Ill. – University of St. Francis (USF) Undergraduate Clinical Placement Coordinator Ashley Hasselbring, MSN, R.N., CCRN, has been named a recipient of the 40 Under 40 Emerging Nurse Leader Award by the Illinois Nurses Foundation. The annual award recognizes 40 Illinois registered nurses under the age of 40 who are impacting health care and the nursing profession today and who undoubtedly shape its future by positively representing it in their communities and through professional organizations.

“It is such an honor to be recognized for doing what I love. I love being a nurse and sharing that love with future nurses,” Hasselbring said.

Among her responsibilities at USF, Hasselbring works to identify clinical sites (hospitals, community agencies, etc.) from Chicago to Ottawa, securing placements and adjunct faculty, creating a clinical schedule and dispersing the schedule to nursing students.

“It is essential to foster partnerships in the area for our nursing students to give them a well-rounded perspective of nursing. Nursing is so great because of the variety of specialities available to care for others,” she added.

Hasselbring will be presented the award alongside the other recipients at Illinois Nurses Foundation’s 5th Annual 40 Under 40 Awards event in Lisle, Ill. on September 12, 2019.

Last January, Hasselbring was also selected as a Nurse Educator Fellow by the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE). She was one of only 19 educators in Illinois to be awarded the fellowship worth $10,000, which was established to recognize nurse educators who have excelled in their areas of specialty.
