Diversity Council

The purpose of the Diversity Council (DC) is to assist the University of St. Francis Mission Integration and Ministry in achieving its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion-related values. The University of St. Francis is a welcoming and supportive environment for all. Members, through their collective efforts and activities, shall assist the University of St. Francis in building a campus community that embraces and supports the richness of the diversity in the community that we serve. The Diversity Council incorporates the Franciscan values of respect, compassion, service, and integrity into its work and the programs that are delivered on campus.


  • Advise the director of the Office of Institutional Diversity on issues regarding diversity, equity, inclusion and campus climate.
  • Assist, annually, in reviewing the diversity initiatives in the campus-wide OGSM while simultaneously working with the Director of the Office of Institutional Diversity to recommend appropriate changes and suggestions.
  • Work in tandem with the Office of Institutional Diversity and Institutional Research in order to facilitate the design and implementation of campus climate surveys every three years.
  • Assist in recommending and facilitating campus-wide diversity workshops and trainings.
  • Assist in assessing, monitoring, and effectively communicating progress on campus-wide diversity and inclusion efforts.
  • Assist in soliciting information from key campus groups and departments in an effort to make suggestions and recommendations as needed to foster collaboration across campus.
  • Assist in reviewing the process for recognizing members of the University of St. Francis community for outstanding contributions in the area of diversity, equity, and inclusion.



The University of St. Francis is an associate member institution of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities which is the only national educational association that represents Hispanic-Serving Institutions. As a member, USF’s two goals are to increase the diversity of its student population and serve the growing Hispanic community in Will County and northeastern Illinois.
