The University of St. Francis is saddened to share the news that longtime USF supporter and friend Will County Executive Larry Walsh, Sr., passed away on Thursday, June 3, at the age of 72 years old. Since 1970, Walsh has served the public in a variety of elected roles, including seats on the Elwood School Board, the Jacksonville Township Board, and the Will County Board. He also served as an Illinois State Senator prior to his most recent role as Will County Executive, a position in which he continued to serve until his passing. Walsh, who will be remembered as outstanding example of a person who has unselfishly given many hours of his time to help others and to improve the quality of life of Will County residents, was also awarded the degree of Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa, by USF at the university’s December 2019 commencement ceremony.

USF thanks Mr. Walsh for his years of dedicated service to the community and for his years of support of our university. We offer our prayers and most sincere condolences to the Walsh family during this difficult time.
