Nov. 21, 2017 | Joliet, Ill.

The University of St. Francis (USF) announced today that is has earned the 2018 Military Friendly® School distinction by Victory Media. This is the eighth consecutive year the university has received this prestigious designation. Each year the list of Military Friendly® schools is provided to service members and their families which helps them to select the best institution for the education needed to pursue a civilian career.

In order to determine which schools can be named Military Friendly®, Victory Media measures how well an institution performs in the areas of recruitment, quality of education once enrolled and job placement after graduation. This information, in addition to survey data, are weighted and scored against benchmarks of success. USF exceeded these benchmarks in all areas including academic policy, military culture and admissions practices.

Triple alumnus and Joliet Police sergeant Rob Hall, ’13, ’15, ’17 received excellent guidance and support as a veteran student at USF. Hall served in the U.S. Coast Guard. When he began researching schools, he was attracted to USF’s Military Friendly® distinction for service members and the many veteran programs available.

“I found USF to be very friendly towards myself and other veterans enrolled. I would definitely refer their programming to others,” said Hall. “Bruce Foote, the Veterans Certifying Official, is very serious about assisting veterans and assuring that they get the support they have earned.”

Since 2000, 135 veterans have graduated from USF. Another 54 veterans, spouses and dependents are currently enrolled in one of USF’s undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

“USF maintains the highest standards in our programs and assists veterans in both the admission process and applying for their applicable benefits,” says Foote.

The University of St. Francis has established a 15% veteran/military discount program which applies to veterans and active military who have exhausted their VA benefits and includes spouses of active duty military personnel not eligible for VA benefits. This discount is also extended to drilling members of the National Guard/Reserves and active duty military personnel and employees of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
