Akropolis Reed Quintet: “On the Town”

Please join the Department of Music and Performing Arts on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sexton Auditorium to hear Akropolis Reed Quintet’s “On The Town.”

Hailed for “imagination, infallible musicality, and huge vitality” by Fanfare Magazine, the award-winning Akropolis Reed Quintet’s trademark virtuosity and flair for the dramatic take center stage as the ensemble revives a golden age of theater-going.

The program features the tiny Akropolis big band accompanying Buster Keaton’s hilarious 1922 silent film The Electric House as its centerpiece. Join the ensemble and embrace Prohibition-era decadence, flamboyance, and individuality in a program that also includes George Gershwin’s An American in Paris and Kurt Weill’s Threepenny Opera.
