COE Receives NCATE Accreditation Through 2023

Jan. 17, 2017 | Joliet, Ill.

The University of St. Francis is proud to announce the continuing national accreditation of its College of Education (COE) by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

This accreditation decision indicates that the COE and its programs meet the rigorous standards set forth by the professional education community. The Selected Improvement Commission of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) announced the decision at a recent meeting. In a letter to USF President Arvid Johnson, Dr. Christopher A. Koch, CAEP president, noted, “Special congratulations are in order because the Commission cited no areas for improvement relative to any of the standards.”

“This accreditation is a testament to the high quality of our education programs,” stated John Gambro, dean of the College of Education. “Going through the rigorous process of national accreditation is challenging, but it validates that our education candidates are prepared to make a positive impact on the students they serve and in the schools in which they work.”

The COE also reported a 100% edTPA pass rate for 2015-16, further proving the dedication of faculty to the depth of preparation future graduates receive at USF. “Our faculty and staff are exceptional. They are dedicated professionals who ensure the best preparation for our candidates by providing rich learning experiences that allow students to realize their fullest potential,” says Gambro.

The College of Education at USF offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programming in the field of education.
