USF Marks 14th Year in U.S. News & World Report Ranking

September 12, 2017 | Joliet, Ill.

The University of St. Francis (USF) is proud to celebrate its 14th consecutive year as a top tier institution on U.S. News & World Report’s 2018 “Best Colleges” list. Each September, U.S. News releases this annual listing and grades colleges and universities on a series of attributes.

Additionally, U.S. News named USF an “A+ School for B Students” for the eighth year in a row in another ranking. The university is only one of 42 Midwest institutions to receive this distinction.

“While rankings such as this provide important external validation of our quality, the most important indicators of our success as educators are that our students have a great learning experience, graduate and find jobs that launch their careers,” said USF President Arvid C. Johnson, Ph.D. “We achieve this by being a welcoming community of learners committed to serving those who aspire to serve others. As a campus of doers, we provide our students with an ethic of care that allows them to be their best selves.”

The U.S. News rankings are the cherries atop a sundae of impressive rankings bestowed on the university recently.

For the 11th consecutive year, USF made The Princeton Review’s “2018 Best Colleges: Region by Region” list. The list reviews 658 colleges in five regional zones across the nation that they consider academically outstanding. USF is among only 158 regional peers to make the list.

USF was also thrilled to find itself among some of the most elite universities and colleges in Illinois when it appeared on College Consesus’ “Best Colleges in Illinois 2017-18” listing. USF placed eighth of the 10 colleges listed and was the only school in Will County represented. The top two spots went to the University of Chicago and Northwestern University respectively.

Schools.com ranked the University of St. Francis as a top private institution on its “Best 4-Year Colleges in Illinois” list. USF appeared eighth among several public universities from Illinois that also made the list. For a complete description of the methodology, please visit: http://schools.com/online-colleges/illinois

The Leach College of Nursing was ranked number two in the nation by Bestcolleges.com in its 2017-18 “Best Online Master’s in Nursing Administration” guide. The site weighs criteria such as retention and graduation rates, affordability and quality of online enrollment in its listing.

Finally, USF was ranked for the first time by Money magazine in its annual 2017-18 “Best Colleges for Your Money” list. USF proudly placed among the top 30 private master’s institutions in the nation and first in the state of Illinois.

“It’s wonderful to earn even one national award, and fantastic to be named by your peers as a top university, but this year has just been amazing for the University of St. Francis,” Vice President of Admissions and Enrollment Eric Wignall said.

“The university has a solid reputation in the Chicago area because of our faculty and the degree programs we offer, but it’s really nice to be recognized like this for the quality of what we do for students. We’re beginning to see interest from across the country and even with growing international recruitment. The awards help us get our message out to a wider audience,” he said.

Wignall is hopeful that these rankings will serve as a testament to the quality education students receive at USF. To schedule a personal campus visit to the University of St. Francis, please visit stfrancis.edu/visit.
