Five Online Programs Recognized by U.S. News & World Report

Jan. 9, 2018 | Joliet, Ill.

U.S. News & World Report has recognized online programs at the University of St. Francis (USF) for the fifth consecutive year.

The 2018 Best Online Programs rankings, released Tuesday, Jan. 9, considered over 300 colleges and universities across the country that offer online degrees. Each January, U.S. News & World Report unveils this annual ranking in an effort to help the millions of students researching online program options to compare the academic quality of more than 1,200 U.S.-based distance learning programs.

USF’s online bachelor’s degree program, online graduate business degree and online MBA all improved their rankings from 2017. Compared to other private Illinois institutions, USF’s online graduate business, education programs and online MBA programs are among the best choices in the state for students looking for high quality, affordable education. At the University of St. Francis, online programs are originated and offered through USF rather than through a third party.

“St. Francis makes every effort to provide access to high quality college degrees, and our online degree and certificate programs are an important part of our plan for the future,” said Eric Wignall, vice president for admissions and enrollment services. “It is a tremendous honor for USF to be recognized for the fifth straight year as a national leader in online education.”

“As we’ve added programs, and adopted new media technologies to what we offer, our students have more tools to take advantage of this growing, changing learning environment. Even with changing technology however, the University of St. Francis is still a high quality, Catholic, Franciscan university that cares about students. We are adding options and staying true to our principles,” he said.

“We still offer on-campus bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs in the arts and sciences, business, education, nursing and social work. Offering educational programs online is just an additional bonus to students seeking more flexibility and who may not be able to easily travel to our campuses,” Wignall said.

The 2018 Best Online Program methodologies are based on a number of factors including student engagement, student services and technology, admissions selectivity, faculty credentials and training and peer reputation.

“We’re certainly pleased by this recognition of the University’s high-quality online degree programs,” noted President Arvid Johnson.  He continued: “We’re also pleased that our online offerings make a University of St. Francis education available to students both near and far.”
