USF Honored as 2017-18 College of Distinction

July 24, 2017 | Joliet, Ill.

The University of St. Francis (USF) is proud to be named a 2017-18 College of Distinction. The university was honored for its nursing, business and education programs in addition to receiving the Catholic College distinction. This is the sixth consecutive year that USF has been recognized by Colleges of Distinction for outstanding contributions to higher education.

Colleges of Distinction seeks out colleges and universities whose curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, writing, presentation skills, research and global perspectives. Honored colleges have distinguished themselves in those four areas and have a demonstrated dedication to enriching student outcomes through innovative learning opportunities.

“While being recognized for our quality in these rankings is exciting, the most important indicators of our success as educators are that our students have a great learning experience, graduate and find jobs that launch their careers,” said USF President Arvid C. Johnson, Ph.D. “We achieve this by being a welcoming community of learners committed to serving those who aspire to serve others. As a campus of doers, we provide our students with an ethic of care that allows them to be their best selves.”

St. Francis strives to provide its students with a variety of learning opportunities both in and outside the classroom. Students are challenged to put their education to the test by participating in internships, work-study and research projects, in addition to their standard curriculum. USF also offers study abroad programming to several locations around the globe and hosts many international students throughout the school year.
