Back to School Fair comes to USF

The University of St. Francis (USF) will be host to the Catholic Charities – Diocese of Joliet Back to School Fair from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7. Some 2,600 students were served last year through the back to school fair.

The fair is a one-stop event providing health and human services for low-income families with children, aged newborn to 18. The event will be in the university’s Pat Sullivan Recreation Center, Wilcox Street campus.

Catholic Charities’ Back to School Fairs help prepare children for a new school year by providing a variety of services, including free school supplies, immunizations, physicals and dental exams. Faculty members who are nurse practitioners from USF’s Cecily & John Leach College of Nursing will provide school physicals at the fair.

Catholic Charities is also raising funds to supply 2,750 backpacks with school supplies. The cost for school supplies per child is $8 and the cost for a backpack per child is $7. For more information or to donate, visit
