The Scholars and Leaders Program provides scholarships for students to major in Biology or Biochemistry. Scholarships of up to $9,300 a year for four years will be awarded to qualifying incoming freshmen.

These scholarships are possible though the generous support of the National Science Foundation. The goal is to increase the number of students preparing for careers in the sciences, to provide support to students’ career endeavors, and to promote leadership skills, so that USF graduates become leaders in their careers

To apply, students must:

  • Be an incoming freshman
  • Major in Biology or Biochemistry
  • Show leadership potential
  • Demonstrate aptitude and enthusiasm for science
  • Complete the FAFSA application (the USF code is 001664)
  • Be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen

Students may also qualify for additional scholarships based on academic credentials and interests. Special consideration will be given to first generation college students and groups underrepresented.

To maintain scholarship eligibility, recipients must:

  • Maintain continued enrollment as a Biology or Biochemistry major
  • Maintain a 3.0 average GPA in all science coursework
  • Maintain good academic standing and integrity
