Joliet, Ill. – As it nears its centennial in 2020, the University of St. Francis (USF) continues to be recognized as a top university by various respected national college ranking systems. The Joliet-based University recently learned that it has been named as a “Best Regional University – Midwest” by College Consensus in its 2019 rankings. USF ranked seventh in the Midwest and second in Illinois on the list.
“The University of St. Francis is honored to be named by College Consensus as one of the top universities in both Illinois and the Midwest,” said USF President Arvid C. Johnson, Ph.D. “As a welcoming community of learners, USF is pleased that its commitment to student success continues to be recognized. The University’s commitment to prepare women and men – our students – to contribute to the world through service and leadership is realized through challenging academic programs that provide our students with the depth and breadth of knowledge that they will need to be ready to hit the ground running both today and in the future. Recognition such as this serves as validation of the efforts of our students, our faculty, and the entire USF community.”
College Consensus also named USF in its 2019 “Best Catholic Colleges and Universities” (#24 in the U.S. and #1 in Illinois), “Best Small Colleges” (#54 in the U.S.) and overall “Best Colleges and Universities” (#191 in the U.S.) lists.
“We are in some pretty good company in this listing, and we are being added to other top ten and top 100 rankings for our degree programs as well. Our enrollment is growing, we are adding new programs, and we are serving a diverse population of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students,” said Eric Wignall, USF Vice President of Admissions, Enrollment Services and Marketing.
“Offering rigorous educational programs in the spirit of St. Francis has always been our path to student success. USF is a small school with a very large footprint. For almost 100 years, the university has made an impact on students, their families, and their communities. The education and experiences they gain really do have a transformative effect on their lives and the lives of others,” Wignall added.
