The Office of Campus Culture is responsible for fostering an environment where a variety of cultural systems are acknowledged, respected and valued. Our mission says it all: “The University of St. Francis is committed to building an inclusive community that inspires acceptance, compassion, respect, and wisdom in understanding the multicultural richness of our society. We value the role of pursuing diversity through achieving flexibility of thinking, respect for differences, moral courage, and appreciation for common ground.”
The Office of Campus Culture (OCC) incorporates the Franciscan values of respect, integrity, service and compassion into its work and the programs it provides. As a Franciscan institution, the University of St. Francis upholds Catholic social teaching that affirms that every human being has inherent dignity, rooted in being created by God and for His purpose. Therefore, the Office of Campus Culture seeks to cultivate a welcoming and inclusive campus climate that affirms and celebrates our university community by committing to the following actions:
1.) Develop and implement educational and social programming that promotes and enhances cross-cultural competence
2.) Provide advocacy for and support to students, faculty, staff, and administrators
3.) Evaluate the university’s campus climate to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement
4.) Collaborate with university and community organizations for institutional and community development and advancement
5.) Develop goals and objectives consistent with the University of St. Francis’s strategic plan that strengthen the university’s role in promoting inclusive practices
