You’ve decided to go back to
school, now what?

The following resources will help as you prepare to become a student again.  Whether you’re right out of undergraduate school, or it’s been 20 years since you were in a classroom, the following information will be useful so keep it handy. 

Welcome to USF Resources!

MyUSF Portal is where you will go to access your online classes, view your schedule, view and pay bills, register for classes, order transcripts, buy books, view your grades and degree progress and more!  You can find it on the homepage at stfrancis.edu or directly at myusf.stfrancis.edu/portal/secure.

  • Your portal login information was sent to the email you supplied on your application for admission.
  • If you did not get it, please check your spam folder or contact IT at techsupport@stfrancis.edu or 815-768-TECH (8324).
  • You can access the MyUSF portal by going to myusf.stfrancis.edu or from the university’s home page, stfrancis.edu and clicking on My USF on the top center of the page.

  • Your first semester as a new student, your Admissions Counselor or an Academic Advisor will register you for classes.
  • As a continuing student, you are able to register yourself on the MyUSF portal at bannerxe.stfrancis.edu/StudentRegistrationSsb/ssb/registration or you can work with your Faculty Advisor to register.

  • Most courses have required textbooks.  To learn what the texts are for your classes complete the drop-down menus for each course at the following link or go to For Students in your MyUSF Portal.
  • Ordering Textbooks (Links to an external site):
    • Select Term
    • Select Department (Choose the letters that precede your course number, for instance, MBAD)
    • Select Course (Choose the appropriate course number)
    • Select Section (Select the letter that follows your course number; for example, MBAD 611 Z)

USF students can download the latest version of Microsoft Office for Free!

To view your tuition bill:

  • Log into your USF Portal.
  • Select For Students from the menu on the left side of your home page.
  • Scroll down the drop-down menu and select Tuition Bill/Account Summary.

To make an online tuition payment:

  • Log into your MyUSF portal.
  • Select For Students or For Alumni (if you have just graduated).
  • Select Tuition Bill/Account Summary.
  • Select Make a Secure Online Tuition Payment.

Final Tips to Remember...

  • Check your USF email account regularly.
  • It’s possible to message instructors/advisors through canvas, but you will still need to check your USF email account.
  • You are responsible for registering for courses each semester (except the first one).
  • Set your notifications in canvas to be emailed directly to you.
  • Spend some time getting to know the portal.
  • Explore the For Students tab in the portal.
  • For name changes, transcript requests & commencement information, contact the registrar’s office.
