Before You Arrive

Please review the pre-arrival checklist below that corresponds to your status. You should have all of the items on the checklist completed prior to arriving on campus for International Orientation.

International Orientation is held the week before classes begin. You should make your travel arrangements so that you arrive on campus in time to attend all mandatory events. There is no Orientation event for summer admits. If you are an international student beginning in the summer semester, you should check in with IPO shortly after arriving on campus by visiting IPO on the second floor of Motherhouse.

Airport Transportation for Accepted International Students Application

We will use WhatsApp or WeChat to communicate with you via Wi-Fi at the airport. Once we receive your username, we will send you a friend request. If you do not currently use one of these apps, you must download one or both before you leave your home country.

International Student Housing Preferences

If you seleced “yes,” that you have special needs that require special housing, you must contact the Office of Disability Services (ODS) at 815-740-3204 or email USF’s Disability Coordinator, Sarah Alag, at salag@stfrancis.edu for a special housing accommodations request form. The deadline for submitting that form for FALL SEMESTER is 90 days prior to move-in for returning students, and 60 days prior to move-in for new students. For SPRING SEMESTER, the deadline for submitting the form is 60 days prior to move-in. If these deadlines have passed and the spaces are filled, students approved for housing accommodations through ODS will be placed on a wait list in the order that their application was received.

Roommate Preferences

IMPORTANT NOTE: Smoking is prohibited in the residence halls, but is allowed only in the following areas: 1) The east entrance of Donovan Hall, 2) the area facing north on Taylor Street in front of the east wing of Marian Hall, and 3) the back entrance of Tower Hall. Receptacles for cigarette waste are provided in these areas to reduce litter on campus grounds.

Residence Hall/Room Preferences

Marian Hall

Marian Hall houses 242 students, the majority in their first and second years. Double and triple rooms, community bathrooms in each wing, an international wing for students getting to know international students. A pillow, set of bed linens and towels are included.

Tower Hall

Tower Hall houses 103 students, the majority in their third and fourth years. Double rooms and some singles, community bathrooms on each floor, an international wing for students getting to know international students. A pillow, set of bed linens and towels are included.

The Motherhouse

The Motherhouse houses 60 students, the majority are in their third and fourth years. Apartment suites for 4-6 students are available, with bathrooms in the common spaces. Single rooms share community bathrooms in each wing. A pillow, set of bed linens and towels are included.
Click here to read more about each of the residence halls. All students are able to select their preferred room style, as long as availability exists. Students who already live on campus are given first selection. All rooms are then offered to students in the order that USF receives the completed housing application and deposit. Please note that VERY FEW single rooms are available. If a single room is requested and unavailable, we will place you on a waiting list and email you. due to limited housing availability of some room types, first choices can not be guaranteed.

Copy of Your U.S. Visa

This can be emailed to internationalprogram@stfrancis.edu after you visit the U.S. consulate/embassy with your Form I-20.

Health Records Packet

Please take this form to your Healthcare Provider and have them document the dates of three TD/TDaP’s, two MMR’s (measles, mumps and rubella) and one meningitis vaccine after the age of 16, prior to arriving at the University of St. Francis, Joliet, IL.

We make it easy to submit your health records. You can either use Cam Scanner Application or your own scanner. The steps to submit your health records are as follows:

1. Take a picture of document (s) and save. Please make sure the image is clear. Login In your portal. Type “Submit Medical Records” in the search bar.

2. Browse (Select Document)

3. Must be JPG, PNG, TIFF, or PDF

4. Upload File(s)

5. Done. You may call USF Health Records (815) 740-3399 to ensure documents were received.

Housing Agreement

1) I understand that due to limited availability of some room types, USF cannot guaranteed that my first choice room preferences will be available. Students already living on campus are given first selection. All rooms are then offered to students in the order that USF receives the complated housing application and deposit. A staff member will notify me of my room type once it has been assigned. I understand that VERY FEW single rooms are available. If a single is requested and unavailable, I understand that USF will email me and place me on a waiting list.

2) I understand that I will be signing a one-year (August to May) housing contract with USF. If I cancel housing before the end of my contract, I understand I will receive a $750 fine.
